3. On the canvas
I have to confess to being a bit perplexed as to why I’ve been struggling to get back into the swing of using acrylics again. However, I think and hope I’m getting there now. I have several pieces started which I always find helps when one just won’t behave. Not that it’s the paintings fault. Above is one called ‘Ripple’ which looks straightforward enough but neat, crisp lines with acrylics I’ve always found challenging and close up none are that neat this time either but better than most of my attempts.
I still have get to start on my major piece, but have got as far of preparing a few by applying a range of backgrounds. I know I don’t want to be neat, but quite the opposite but as yet haven’t plucked up the courage to really go for it. Below are unfinished pieces on watercolour paper or in my canvas sketch pad which are slowly helping me remember what options I have technique wise.
I still feel I’m behind on where I wanted to be by this point for this month’s project but luckily I am nearly decided on how to render it even though I haven’t settled on a subject still. While sorting out all my storage spaces I came across more large canvases and some hardboard so, I should be able to progress two or three before deciding which to finalise.
My second #MediaoftheWeek begins tomorrow which should help as this time it’s acrylics.
